About the position

The After School Enrichment Specialist at IDEA Public Schools is responsible for facilitating after school programming aimed at providing academic support, enrichment opportunities, and preparing students for college and careers. This role involves collaboration with campus principals and the After School Coordinator to ensure that the programs align with the school's vision and priorities. The position requires working after school for 2 to 2.5 hours, focusing on enhancing students' cognitive skills and fostering a positive learning environment.

Responsibilities

  • Implement a clear and consistent behavior management system that aligns with campus-wide initiatives.
  • Help shape and develop a school-wide culture that fosters a productive and enthusiastic learning environment.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students and families based on trust and respect.
  • Provide enrichment and recreation leadership for program students.
  • Facilitate planned enrichment and/or recreational activities for groups of students (average group size 12-18).
  • Assist in developing students' cognitive capacity and increasing academic skill development.
  • Foster students' self-esteem and motivation through positive interaction.
  • Attend scheduled meetings with Site Coordinator and Project Director to coordinate program design and evaluation processes.
  • Work closely with Site Coordinator and Project Director to organize schedules of activities and implement evaluation tools.
  • Abide by all IDEA campus rules and procedures.

Requirements

  • Current college enrollment with up to 15 college hours or professional certification in the subject to be taught.
  • Experience working with youth in formal or informal settings.
  • Experience working in a classroom or school setting (formal or informal).
  • Must attach an official or unofficial transcript to the application to verify GPA and credit hours earned.
  • Ability to instruct students and manage student behavior.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adjust and adapt to various situations in the school environment.
  • Ability to track data weekly and monthly for reporting.
