About the position

The After School Enrichment Specialist at JCC Chicago is responsible for facilitating interactive after-school programs for PreK 3 and PreK 4 children. This role focuses on creating a safe and engaging environment that stimulates children's minds and bodies through various activities, including physical exercises, swimming, art projects, and games. The position aims to foster relationships and build community connections while ensuring the welfare of participating children.

Responsibilities

• Supervise children by sight and sound during activities.
• Engage with children and facilitate quiet activities daily.
• Assist children in changing in and out of swimsuits in the locker room.
• Support the planning and implementation of weekly projects such as STEM and art.
• Communicate regularly with parents during pick-up.
• Create a welcoming and safe environment for children's learning and engagement.
• Facilitate conflict resolution among children and promote positive interactions.
• Assist in the clean-up and organization of supplies and equipment.
• Inform the on-site supervisor of any injuries, misbehavior, or conflicts.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Previous experience with school-age children.
• Ability to be energetic and personable.
• Exceptional listening skills and ability to use positive discipline.
• Ability to communicate effectively with children, parents, and staff.
