About the position

Family & Children's Aid is seeking passionate individuals to join our team as After School Facilitators. This role is integral to our therapeutic after school and summer program, which aims to provide a safe and structured environment for children who face emotional and behavioral challenges. Our mission is to engage children in activities that foster social, emotional, and intellectual growth through our Extended Day Treatment Program, while also offering clinical support. As an After School Facilitator, you will be responsible for monitoring and providing care for children participating in our program. Your primary focus will be on ensuring the health and safety of the children, maintaining a positive and supportive atmosphere, and facilitating psycho-educational groups. You will also manage behaviors and assist clients in utilizing coping skills and de-escalation techniques, which are crucial for their development. This part-time position requires flexibility, as you will need to work both the school year and summer schedules. The school year schedule includes shifts from Monday to Friday, with hours varying from 1:00 PM to 7:30 PM, while the summer schedule typically runs from 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM. You will also participate in treatment plan reviews, assist with transportation, and complete daily progress notes to track the children's development and needs. Candidates must possess a valid CT Driver's License and have at least one year of experience working with children who have similar behavioral and emotional needs. This role is not only about providing care but also about making a meaningful difference in the lives of children and their families.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and provide care for children participating in the therapeutic after school program.
  • Maintain staff to client ratio to ensure safety and support for all children.
  • Facilitate and co-facilitate psycho-educational groups for children.
  • Manage behaviors and assist clients in utilizing coping skills and de-escalation techniques.
  • Assist with developing and implementing clinical treatment plans for children.
  • Participate in treatment plan reviews to assess progress and needs.
  • Assist with transportation to and from the program as needed.
  • Participate in Multi Family Group activities on an as-needed basis.
  • Complete daily progress notes to document children's progress and challenges.

Requirements

  • Must have knowledge, skills, ability, and the desire to work with children struggling with behavioral and/or emotional needs.
  • Valid CT Driver's License is required.
  • Available to fulfill the work schedule as outlined in the position posting.
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience working with a similar population is highly preferred.
