About the position

The After School Instructor at Dunn Police Athletic & Activities League, Inc. is responsible for providing academic assistance and enrichment activities to middle school students. This part-time role involves facilitating homework help, STEM activities, and educational field trips while ensuring a safe and engaging environment for students. The instructor will work closely with the After-school Site Coordinator and will be required to create and implement lesson plans tailored to the needs of the students.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate activities with groups of ten to fifteen students.
• Assist students with homework and academic enrichment.
• Supervise youth participants to ensure a safe and organized program.
• Keep daily attendance records and gather participant information.
• Attend weekly or bi-weekly staff meetings/trainings.
• Assist with the planning of community events.
• Create and implement engaging lesson plans.
• Develop and implement enrichment clubs.
• Assist with the Youth Leadership Council Program.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Bilingual in Spanish preferred but not mandatory.
• CPR Certification.
• First Aid Certification.
• Driver's License with no tickets or accidents in the last 7 years.
• Proven ability to assist children in an academic environment.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Reliable transportation to work.
• Prior paid or volunteer experience as a Tutor/Instructor/Mentor.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in after-school programs preferred.
• Knowledge of SAT/ACT and FAFSA processes.
• Ability to plan, design, and implement lesson plans on a weekly basis.

Benefits

• Part-time hourly pay of $13.00 - $15.00 per hour.
• Flexible working hours after school, Monday to Friday.
