About the position
The After School Instructor at Dream Center Academy is a part-time role focused on supporting students after school. The instructor will assist with homework, supervise recreational activities, and lead enrichment clubs, all while fostering a positive learning environment and helping students develop essential academic and social skills.
Responsibilities
- Lead daily homework and study skills sessions to develop students' study and work habits.
- Help students develop positive attitudes toward learning and studying.
- Supervise a recreation period.
- Lead or assist in after-school clubs.
- Supervise on Friday Field Trips and/or Service Projects.
- Work collaboratively with directors and instructors to meet the needs of students.
- Engage and inspire students to gain academic skills and take ownership over their own education.
- Help students develop positive social skills to benefit their interactions with others.
- Communicate monthly with each family on their team.
- Attend training sessions prior to After-school Academy.
- Participate in professional development sessions as assigned.
- Attend and participate in monthly staff meetings.
- Provide student evaluations and other reports as requested to the Site Coordinator.
- Ensure that confidentiality of records and information is maintained at all times.
- Drive van to provide student transportation, as needed.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Work experience with students, preferred
- Dependable and efficient with strong planning and organizational skills
- A positive and enthusiastic personality who enjoys working with others
- Inspired by the Dream Center Academy's mission and philosophy
- Passion for working with middle school and high school students and their families
- Commitment to excellence
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in supervising students
- Ability to communicate in Spanish
