About the position
The After School Lead Counselor position at the Epping Parks & Recreation Department involves overseeing a classroom of 10-20 children in an after-school program. The role requires planning and facilitating engaging activities, crafts, and gym games, while ensuring a fun and safe environment for the children. The position is part-time, with hours from 2:45 PM to 5:45 PM, Monday to Friday, and offers flexibility to accommodate college schedules. There are opportunities for additional hours during full-day programs and summer camp.
Responsibilities
- Oversee a classroom of 10-20 children during after school hours.
- Plan and facilitate crafts, activities, and gym games.
- Collaborate with Junior Staff or another Lead Staff member.
- Ensure a fun and safe environment for all participants.
- Participate in full-day programs on no school days and during school vacations.
- Be available for the 6-week summer camp program.
Requirements
- Experience working with children is preferred.
- Excellent references are required.
- Education in child care, recreation, or a related field is preferred, but experience may substitute for formal education.
- Desire to plan and facilitate structured recreational programs for children.
- CPR and First Aid certification is required (paid training available).
- Criminal background checks are required.
