About the position

The Work-Family Connection is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic After School Program Site Director for our Washington Ave location in Chatham, NJ. This part-time position is set to begin in late August, coinciding with our company-wide training, and will run from September to June. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with children and a strong background in childcare and education administration. This role is crucial in managing the day-to-day operations of our after-school program, which serves approximately 70-80 students in grades K-3. The Site Director will be responsible for creating a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment for children, while also ensuring that the program runs smoothly and efficiently. In this role, the Site Director will oversee a team of childcare professionals, providing training and support to ensure that all staff members are equipped to deliver high-quality care and education. The position requires a reliable individual who can commit to working from 2:30 PM to 6:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with the possibility of additional hours in the morning for the before-school program. Flexibility is essential, as the Site Director will need to attend monthly staff meetings and other necessary gatherings. Strong communication skills are a must, as building positive relationships with parents and school personnel is a key aspect of this role. The Site Director will also be responsible for developing and implementing a monthly activity schedule that keeps children engaged and excited about their after-school experience. Additionally, planning at least two annual family events for parents is a requirement, fostering community involvement and support. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of nurturing qualities and strong classroom management skills, ensuring that all children feel valued and supported while maintaining a structured environment.

Responsibilities

  • Managing day to day operations of the program site
  • Training and managing other adults
  • Being reliable and available to work 2:30 PM to 6:30 PM (Monday - Friday) and 7-9 AM if working the before school program
  • Attending required monthly staff meetings and other meetings as necessary
  • Developing positive relationships with parents and school personnel
  • Nurturing school age children while maintaining strong classroom management
  • Developing and implementing a monthly club activity schedule to keep kids engaged
  • Planning at least two annual family events for the program's parents
  • Adapting to ever changing environments in a professional and courteous manner

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Education or related field
  • At least four years of experience working with children (preferably school age) OR a bachelor's degree plus two years of experience
  • Supervisory experience
  • Classroom management skills
  • Program development experience
  • Ability to work flexible hours
