After-School Scouting Outreach Program Aide

About the position

The After-School Scouting Outreach Program Aide plays a crucial role in delivering the Scouting program to youth, primarily in grades K-5, when regular volunteer leaders are unavailable. This part-time position focuses on engaging youth in meaningful activities, ensuring their registration in the program, and fostering community involvement.

Responsibilities

• Provide the Scout program to youth primarily in K-5th grade at assigned Scoutreach sites.
• Ensure that youth being served are appropriately registered in the Scouting America program.
• Keep accurate attendance records at all meetings.
• Attend weekly team meetings.
• Encourage parental involvement and participation in the program.
• Conduct awareness functions to increase public exposure, attract volunteers and recruit youth.
• Utilize learning strategies to ensure every youth participant has the opportunity to earn advancement recognition during the program year.

Requirements

• Register with Scouting America, complete youth protection training and pass a mandatory background check.
• Be at least 18 years old.
• Have dependable transportation that enables you to be at assigned sites.
• Be consistent and on-time to assigned sites.
• Wear the proper uniform when delivering programming to youth.

Nice-to-haves

• Previous Scouting experience is not required but could be helpful.
