The REEF program emphasizes a fun and engaging learning environment, where the Support Teacher will be responsible for monitoring and assisting in the coordination of before and aftercare programs for assigned classrooms. This includes proactively supporting the success of daily activities planned by Lead Teachers, leading classroom activities several times a week, and monitoring student behavior to encourage growth and progress. The role also involves consulting with parents to share positive feedback about their children’s experiences and helping students maximize their engagement in planned activities through positivity and encouragement. In addition to leading activities, the Support Teacher will collaborate with colleagues to enhance student engagement and education. The position requires anticipating the needs of both teachers and students to ensure smooth operation of activities, supervising students during aftercare activities and field trips, and maintaining a clean and organized environment for learning. This role is integral to the success of the REEF program and offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the educational journey of children.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and assist in the coordination of before and aftercare (REEF) programs for assigned classrooms.
• Proactively support the success of daily activities planned by Lead Teachers.
• Lead classroom activities several times per week.
• Monitor student behavior for growth, progress, and opportunities to reward.
• Consult with parents and share positive feedback about students.
• Help students get the most out of each planned activity through positivity and encouragement.
• Develop different ways to teach and challenge oneself to lead activities.
• Collaborate with colleagues to engage and educate students.
• Facilitate and lead activities created by lead teachers in their absence.
• Anticipate the needs of teachers and students for smooth activity execution.
• Work cooperatively with team members to meet goals and objectives.
• Supervise and ensure students' safety during aftercare activities and field trips.
• Ensure students are fully engaged in REEF classes each period.
• Help supervise transition periods between classes and group play.
• Assist with other REEF operation efforts as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Warm and friendly personality; ability to relate well to children and staff.
• Experience and knowledge with before-and-aftercare program administration is a plus.
• Basic technology skills, e.g., Google Suite, especially Gmail.
• Experience with Mac preferred.
• Self-starter with sound time management skills.
• Ability to work with little supervision and proactive problem-solving skills.
• Crisis management skills.
• Excellent verbal and writing communication skills.
• Strong motivational skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with before-and-aftercare program administration is a plus.
