About the position

The After School Tennis Coach position is a part-time role focused on providing engaging tennis classes to elementary school students in Grades K-3 across various schools in the Bay Area. Coaches will manage classes, create a positive learning environment, and ensure students enjoy their tennis experience while developing their skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage a class size of 8 - 16 students aged 5-10 years old.
• Teach tennis classes using provided lesson plans.
• Attend a two-day training/shadowing session to familiarize with the program.
• Transport tennis equipment to and from class.
• Set up tennis equipment for classes.
• Take attendance and sign in/out students for each class.
• Interact with parents and school office staff as needed.
• Provide feedback for each student by the end of the session.
• Capture pictures of kids in action during sessions.

Requirements

• Must be 19+ years old upon application.
• Previous teaching or playing experience in tennis is preferred but not required.
• USPTA/PTR certification is preferred but not required.
• Enjoy working with kids and managing a class professionally.
• Flexibility, reliability, punctuality, and a professional, enthusiastic approach.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Resilient, positive attitude.
• Ability to work independently and within a small team.
• Reliable transportation throughout the East and South Bay and Peninsula.
• Willingness to undergo a live scan background check before working.
• Must be fully vaccinated.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in coaching or teaching sports to children.
• Knowledge of tennis techniques and strategies.
