About the position

The Ag / Commercial Loan Officer at Midstates Bancshares Inc. is responsible for developing and managing client relationships in agriculture and commercial lending. The role focuses on meeting established lending requirements while ensuring maximum profitability for the bank with minimal risk. This position requires a thorough understanding of loan policies and involves direct interaction with clients to assess their creditworthiness and financial needs.

Responsibilities

  • Interview loan applicants and analyze financial data to determine creditworthiness.
  • Establish and negotiate terms for credit extension, including costs and repayment methods.
  • Prepare financial analyses using Web Equity software for Ag/Commercial clients.
  • Write credit memorandums in accordance with Loan Policy for loan committee presentations.
  • Inspect applicant's business and collateral, and review financial reports to gather necessary information.
  • Monitor loan repayment activities and take action on past-due accounts.
  • Advise customers on business management and financial matters.
  • Develop new business by contacting prospects and cross-selling bank services.
  • Serve on the officer loan committee to evaluate loan requests.
  • Prepare and present loan materials to the executive committee as required.
  • Participate in civic activities to promote community growth and a positive bank image.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Agriculture Economics, or a related field.
  • 2 years of experience in banking, credit, or agriculture-related business.
  • Accounting or bookkeeping experience in financial statement formation and cash flows.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong sales skills and ability to prepare for sales calls.
  • General knowledge of farming, ranching, and rural living.
