About the position

This is a short-term and/or temporary on-campus Agriculture Mechanics teaching position for the University of Minnesota - Crookston Campus's Agriculture & Natural Resources Department for the 2024-2025 academic year. The role involves developing and teaching courses related to agriculture mechanics, advising students on academic concerns, and participating in service-related teaching duties. The position also includes contributing to the decision-making process regarding policies, courses, and programs within the department. Continuing personal growth within the profession is essential, as is keeping current with the field to broaden knowledge and expertise. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality instruction to undergraduate students, assist in the development of department goals and objectives, and support research and community outreach initiatives in the discipline. Regular office hours are required to maintain strong ties with students and faculty, enriching the student experience and supporting employment opportunities for students.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and teach courses in agriculture mechanics.
  • Advise students regarding academic concerns and school-related organizations.
  • Provide service-related teaching duties.
  • Participate in decision-making related to policies, courses, and programs.
  • Engage in continuing personal growth within the profession and keep current with the field.
  • Deliver high-quality instruction to undergraduate students.
  • Assist in the development of department goals and objectives.
  • Support research and community outreach in the areas of discipline.
  • Maintain regular office hours to support student engagement.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree, preferably in the teaching discipline.
  • Master's Degree in another field, plus 18 graduate credits in the teaching discipline.
  • A terminal degree in the discipline or related area is preferred.
  • Professional and/or teaching experience related to assigned instructional responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated self-awareness and cultural competencies in working with diverse student populations.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English.
  • Eligibility to work within the United States.
