About the position

Ziegler Ag Equipment is seeking a full-time, experienced Mechanic to join our team, specializing in the service and repair of agricultural equipment. Our company is a leading provider of agricultural machinery, selling and servicing a comprehensive range of products including Fendt tractors, combines, planters, and application equipment. We also handle other reputable brands such as Massey Ferguson, RoGator, TerraGator, CLAAS LEXION, TRION, and Jaguar, along with tillage and grain handling equipment. As we continue to expand our customer base, we are looking for a dedicated mechanic who possesses excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills to deliver top-notch service to our clients. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing a variety of agricultural equipment, including tractors, combines, balers, sprayers, tillage equipment, and planters. You will be expected to respond to customer needs in a positive and timely manner, ensuring that they receive maximum value for the work performed. Maintaining a clean and safe work area is crucial, and adherence to all safety procedures is mandatory. You will follow standard operating procedures, clean and organize equipment, and attend formal training sessions to enhance your skills. Additionally, you will assist in preparing new equipment for rent or sale and provide support to other technicians regarding troubleshooting and repairs. Documentation of work performed is essential, and you will be required to maintain accurate paperwork, including work orders, to ensure that all tasks are completed and billed correctly. Effective communication with both internal and external customers is vital to satisfy their needs and expectations. This position is deemed safety-sensitive, and as such, you will be subject to a drug test as a pre-employment requirement.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair agricultural equipment including tractors, combines, balers, sprayers, tillage equipment, and planters
  • Respond to customer needs in a positive, supportive, and timely manner to ensure maximum value for work performed
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area, adhering to all safety procedures
  • Follow standard operating procedures
  • Clean and organize equipment
  • Attend formal training
  • Assist in preparing new equipment for rent or sale
  • Provide assistance to all other levels of technicians as needed in regard to troubleshooting repairs
  • Perform other duties as assigned/required
  • Maintain paperwork documentation of work performed (work orders) in a complete and timely manner on a daily/job basis
  • Document labor, addition of segments, assuring that work order can be closed and billed as communicated with the customer
  • Positively interact with manager and team members to satisfy customer needs
  • Communicate effectively with customers, both internal and external

Requirements

  • 2-year technical degree or high school diploma/GED and several years of comparable shop mechanic experience
  • 2+ years of relevant diesel equipment repair experience preferred
  • Previous experience with AGCO, CLAAS or Versatile products is a plus but not required
  • Attention to detail, efficiency, problem solving, planning and organization, team player
  • Written and verbal communication skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Own mechanic tool set
  • Ability to maintain a safe and clean work environment
