About the position
The Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Authority (OMMA) is seeking two full-time Agents I or II to conduct investigations related to the enforcement of state laws and regulations concerning medical marijuana. This role involves both entry-level and career-level responsibilities, including conducting investigations, gathering evidence, and collaborating with law enforcement entities. Candidates must possess critical thinking and problem-solving skills to tackle challenges effectively and contribute to the agency's mission.
Responsibilities
- Investigates violations of state laws and regulations concerning medical marijuana, including participation in undercover operations and surveillance.
- Gathers and analyzes information; searches for and gathers physical or documentary evidence; interviews witnesses; prepares investigative reports and case records.
- Assists prosecutors and the OMMA Legal Division in filing charges; appears as a witness in court proceedings; drafts legal documents for investigations.
- Examines physical security safeguards and accounting procedures of registered entities in the medical marijuana industry.
- Participates in in-service training and studies professional materials related to investigative procedures and legal updates.
- Operates and monitors electronic surveillance equipment; operates computers and software.
- Accompanies OMMA inspectors during their job duties; provides courtroom security for administrative hearings.
- Responds to program-related inquiries from the general public.
Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years of age and possess a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- For Level I: Two years of law enforcement experience with a governmental agency and must be a certified CLEET peace officer or possess a certification by reciprocity agreement from another state.
- For Level II: Two years of law enforcement experience plus one year of professional experience in conducting criminal investigations for a governmental agency.
- Valid Oklahoma driver's license at the time of appointment.
- Ability and willingness to carry a firearm and use reasonable force as necessary.
- Physical and mental stamina to perform the work.
