About the position

The Management Trainee position will focus on building and refining the skills, knowledge and competencies necessary to take on a frontline leadership role in aggregate operations. The Management Trainee will work with management to plan, direct, coordinate and budget activities related to aggregate performance, quality, and customer service. Assist with plant operation, exploration, reclamation, production and maintenance planning, safety management, process improvement, and other initiatives for multiple plant operations.

Responsibilities

  • Operate within OMG's safety culture and how to manage with safety as a value.
  • Build/improve operational knowledge from the ground level through management functions, using a hands on approach.
  • Learn to execute many of the jobs necessary in production operations.
  • Learn all aspects related to local, state, and federal compliance within operations.
  • Refine supervisory skills necessary to take on leadership role.
  • Gain understanding of accounting related to operations management.
  • Participate in frequent report-outs.
  • Rotate through various functional roles of operations and management, including but not limited to: Safety, Rail Operations, Fixed Plant Operations, HMA Plant Operations, Construction, Quality Control, Sales, Mobile Equipment, Leadership & Management.
  • Attend cross functional events to further understanding of the business.
  • Work with all support functions (HR, QC, Engineering, Environmental) when appropriate.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficient with Windows, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively to customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
