About the position

The Agile Coach is responsible for embedding an agile culture within the organization by utilizing a variety of agile and lean methodologies. This role focuses on creating a trust-based environment that promotes delivery and continuous improvement. The Agile Coach will assess team and organizational cultures, facilitate improvements, and engage with stakeholders at all levels to ensure effective project delivery and governance.

Responsibilities

  • Embed an agile culture using various agile and lean methodologies and frameworks, while remaining methodology agnostic.
  • Create an open and trust-based environment that focuses on delivery and facilitates continuous improvement.
  • Assess the culture of teams or organizations and their delivery processes to identify and facilitate improvements.
  • Showcase relevant tools and techniques such as coaching, advising, workshops, and mentoring.
  • Engage with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Develop clear lines of escalation in agreement with senior managers.
  • Ensure stakeholders can easily find accurate and current project or program status without disrupting delivery.
  • Work effectively with other suppliers and agencies.
  • Apply best tools and techniques to team roles, behaviors, structure and culture, agile ceremonies and practices, knowledge transfer, program management, cross-team coordination, and overall governance of digital service delivery.
  • Ensure key metrics and requirements that support the team and delivery are well defined and maintained.
  • Equip staff with the ability to coach others.
  • Provide executive coaching on fundamental considerations of digital service delivery design at the organization level.

Requirements

  • ACTIVE or EXPIRED IRS MBI Clearance is Required.
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience transforming initiatives to deliver lasting change within agencies focused on delivering value for citizens.
  • Experience coaching at the team level to ensure effective agile adoption and performance.
  • Experience coaching at the portfolio or program level to establish agile management processes.
  • Experience driving strategic change across the organization and embedding agile techniques from senior levels.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with agile methodologies such as SAFE, Scrum, and Kanban.
  • Proficiency in communication and reporting tools like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Basic knowledge of DevOps and CI/CD tools (GitHub, Jenkins, AWS), microservices, and containerization.
  • Experience with development and testing tools like Java, Spring, and React.
  • Familiarity with security tools such as AppScan and SonarQube.
  • Knowledge of Section 508 and accessibility standards (WCAG, a11y).
