An experienced Agile PM/Scrum Master is needed to support a team relatively new to Agile Methodology. The Scrum Master is responsible for ensuring that Scrum is understood and enacted, and that the Scrum Team adheres to Scrum theory, practices, and rules. This role is crucial as the Scrum Master acts as a participative leader for the Scrum Team, helping to remove impediments to the Development Team's progress while understanding and practicing agility. The Scrum Master also plays a vital role in helping those outside the Scrum Team understand which of their interactions with the Scrum Team are beneficial and which are not, facilitating changes to maximize the value created by the Scrum Team. In addition to the core responsibilities of a Scrum Master, this position involves creating high-performing teams that share a common vision, goals, and metrics. The Scrum Master enables teams to collaborate effectively, challenge one another, and hold each other accountable to achieve outstanding results. The scope of responsibility includes promoting and supporting Agile and Scrum as defined in the Scrum Guide and SAFe framework, teaching and coaching Scrum Team(s) on Scrum theory, practices, and rules, and ensuring that all Scrum ceremonies take place with the proper attendees. The Scrum Master facilitates these ceremonies as needed, promoting collaboration and synergy between team members and other teams. The Scrum Master also teaches and coaches across multiple teams on how to write better user stories, acceptance criteria, and the importance of continuous learning and improvement within each sprint. Supporting Product Owner/Manager(s) is another key aspect of this role, where the Scrum Master finds techniques for effective Product Backlog management and teaches Product Owner(s) how to arrange the Product Backlog to maximize value. Resolving cross-team dependencies and impediments that the Development Team cannot resolve themselves is also part of the role. Continuous learning and development are emphasized, with opportunities for participation in activities like lunch & learns, CoPs, Book Clubs, and Hackathons. The Scrum Master demonstrates a growth mindset and a zest for learning new technical and soft skills, continuously improving their abilities to teach and coach diverse audiences. Additionally, the Scrum Master effectively analyzes and leverages empirical data to improve quality, transparency, delivery predictability, and organizational decision-making. Balancing teaching and coaching is essential, as the Scrum Master often encounters situations requiring advice on how to handle various challenges, necessitating the ability to handle difficult conversations and provide targeted responses. Ultimately, the goal is for Product Owners/Managers and Delivery team members to demonstrate their knowledge of Scrum and Agile by functioning as a cohesive team, participating in Scrum ceremonies, and producing high-value products for the business and customers.
