About the position

The Manager of Technical Product at The Cigna Group plays a pivotal role in facilitating the delivery of technology solutions by leading, developing, and empowering a team of Technical Product Owners (TPOs) for a defined group of capabilities or products. This position is essential in driving transformation and continuous improvement within the organization. The Manager utilizes department objectives and metrics to manage performance, ensuring that product teams deliver significant business value. As a change agent, the Manager partners with scrum masters, coaches, and Engineering leadership to employ a metrics-based approach to identify opportunities for optimizing team performance. This includes identifying and assisting TPOs with the implementation of strategies aimed at achieving performance goals. The Manager is responsible for leading and developing the Technical Product team, ensuring that overall objectives are met and that business value is consistently delivered across a defined group of technical products. In addition to team leadership, the Manager collaborates with business product owners and stakeholders to initiate new business initiatives. This involves supporting the development of business program specifications and business cases, as well as working with Technology teams to estimate financial requirements. The role requires collaboration across functional, operational, and technology groups to ensure the right stakeholders are engaged, and it includes serving as an escalation point to mitigate issues, remove impediments, and resolve conflicts. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of user experience and solution design, along with the ability to balance technical knowledge with business acumen. A passion for meeting customer needs within an agile framework is essential, as is the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, and sometimes ambiguous environment.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the delivery of technology solutions by leading a team of Technical Product Owners.
  • Drive transformation and continuous improvement within the team.
  • Employ a metrics-based approach to identify opportunities for optimizing team performance.
  • Assist TPOs with the implementation of strategies to achieve performance goals.
  • Collaborate with business product owners and stakeholders to initiate new business initiatives.
  • Support the development of business program specifications and business cases.
  • Work with Technology teams to estimate financial requirements.
  • Engage with cross-functional teams to ensure the right stakeholders are involved.
  • Serve as an escalation point to mitigate issues and resolve conflicts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent work experience.
  • 5 years of relevant experience or a Master's degree with 2-5 years of relevant experience.
  • Previous coding experience preferred but not necessary.
  • Experience working in technology or close engagement on components preferred.
  • Complete understanding and wide application of technical principles, theories, and concepts in the field.
  • Knowledge of user experience and solution design is essential.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with Compliance, IRM, Infrastructure, and Software Engineering.
