About the position

The Agile Project Management Lead (LAPM) at BAE Systems plays a crucial role in supporting federal cybersecurity engineering projects. This position involves overseeing a team of Release Train Engineers (RTEs) to ensure the successful delivery of Agile Release Trains (ART) while managing project risks and enhancing cybersecurity measures. The LAPM will act as a coach and facilitator, guiding the team in Agile practices and collaborating with various stakeholders to drive improvements and ensure alignment with customer goals.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a member of the program leadership team, keeping the Program Manager informed of team progress and morale.
  • Manage team staffing, morale, and performance.
  • Facilitate Program Increment (PI) Planning readiness and support team preparedness through Pre- and Post-PI Planning activities.
  • Oversee schedule activities supporting customer Acquisition Management Branch.
  • Work closely with stakeholders across contractor and government teams.
  • Interface with development team agile coaches to identify areas for improvement and coaching.
  • Coach leaders in Lean-Agile practices and recommend improvements.
  • Collaborate with program peers and across functional teams to identify and resolve issues.
  • Provide resource recommendations to address critical bottlenecks.
  • Drive relentless improvement across the ARTs, the team, and the program.

Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years of demonstrated experience as a Project Manager.
  • In-depth understanding of Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) environment; demonstrated experience as a Release Train Engineer or equivalent role.
  • Current Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Experience planning, managing, organizing, and completing multiple projects concurrently.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple teams concurrently.
  • Demonstrated people and performance management experience; experience with staff development and coaching.
  • Demonstrated experience interfacing with senior government customers and briefing project status.
  • Knowledge of risk and dependency management.
  • Strong organization, facilitation, and interpersonal skills; must be a strong team player.
  • Self-motivated, self-starter who can effectively perform in a remote work environment.
  • Must have an active Secret Clearance and be eligible for TS/SCI.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree and at least 10 years of equivalent experience.
  • Proven work experience as an Agile Project Manager or Release Train Engineer in a SAFe environment.
  • Active SAFe certification (SAFe Agilest, SAFe Practitioner, RTE, etc.).
  • Experience and confidence briefing government customers.
  • Familiarity with Jira / Jira Align.
  • Experience working in a cyber-security environment or managing cyber-security projects.
