About the position

The Agile Project Manager for Finance Data & Automation at Northern Trust is responsible for facilitating the planning, delivery, and continuous improvement of Agile teams. This role involves collaboration with team members across Finance and Technology, mentoring on Agile principles, and serving as a servant leader to enable team success. The position requires strong project management and communication skills to organize work across multiple teams and report progress to executives, while also centralizing roadmaps to drive efficient delivery of governance and innovation priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Create empowered, self-organizing, high-performing cross-functional teams by serving as the team's servant leader.
  • Mentor the team and the Product Owner on Scrum and Agile best practices.
  • Continuously improve team productivity and facilitate completion of work.
  • Regularly assess the Agile maturity of the team, identify improvement opportunities, and implement improvements.
  • Coach the team on the value and methods of developing cross-functional skills.
  • Facilitate planning and regular Release Planning workshops.
  • Coach the Product Owner on maintaining a prioritized Product Backlog with clear acceptance criteria.
  • Facilitate the creation of team agreements including Definition of Done (DOD) and Definition of Ready (DOR).
  • Facilitate open, fact-based discussions, build consensus, and reach decisions.
  • Carry out moderately complex activities and initiatives involving multiple disciplines.

Requirements

  • A College or University degree and 10+ years of relevant proven work experience in Agile as a Scrum Master.
  • Expertise in Agile principles and practices with strong technical and/or business knowledge.
  • Strong understanding of the software development life cycle including planning, development, quality assurance, change management, and release management.
  • Experience with Agile Lifecycle Management (ALM) tools (JIRA, Rally/CA Agile Central, VersionOne, etc.) preferred.
  • Certified Scrum Professional and/or certified Scrum Master preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Strong knowledge and experience with Agile techniques such as Continuous Integration, automated testing, TDD, ATDD, etc.
  • Good leadership and organizational skills, skilled in facilitation, continuous improvement, and servant leadership.
