About the position

The Agile Project Manager will oversee the delivery of commitments across multiple Agile Squads, ensuring that projects are completed within the defined timeline and budget. This role involves managing financials, risks, and dependencies while facilitating Agile ceremonies and coaching teams on Agile best practices. The position requires a blend of traditional project management and Agile methodologies, particularly during the Agile transformation journey.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct team meetings and influence and coach the team on Agile mindset.
  • Serve as guardian of the SAFe Agile process.
  • Drive relentless improvement efforts and minimize outside disruptions.
  • Coach the team on Agile Best Practices.
  • Partner with finance, project teams, and value stream owners to ensure financial cadences are supported and aligned to portfolio financials.
  • Coordinate and facilitate Program Increment (PI) Planning and document committed objectives, team board, and milestones.
  • Facilitate all scrum ceremonial meetings like Daily Scrum, Sprint planning, Sprint Demo/Review & retrospectives.
  • Help the Product Owner and Scrum team create & maintain a healthy product backlog and assist in managing & prioritizing the backlog.
  • Address impediments and resolve or escalate as needed.
  • Monitor progress of the team day to day, team velocity, team capacity, and ensure that the team stays on track.
  • Maintain team progress and boards in tool.
  • Keep the RTE/Program Manager and Portfolio lead informed of the milestones/deliverables of the team.
  • Conduct backlog refinement and iteration planning.
  • Report progress, risk mitigation, and updates to relevant stakeholders.
  • Assist in balancing interdependencies and manage scrum of scrums between projects.
  • Coach the team on Agile best practices and help them improve using retrospective meetings.
  • Build out a sprint calendar, release plan(s), and manage the overall timeline & delivery of the project.
  • Review project team allocations, project-related POs/invoices & manage project financials.
  • Create & publish weekly Clarity project status reports & host Steering Committee meetings.
  • Manage multiple related Scrum teams/Squads.
  • Ensure end-to-end execution and on-time, on-budget, and on-scope delivery of the project.
  • Develop a comprehensive project plan.
  • Work with the resource manager on resource planning for the project.
  • Set and manage stakeholder expectations.
  • Maintain project level governance and status reporting to stakeholders.
  • Accountable for maintaining the RAAIDD log.
  • Escalate when required and hold people accountable for risk and issue mitigation.
  • Keep the Portfolio Lead and Program Manager informed of all risks, issues, and dependencies on the projects.
  • Follow RBS processes and ensure all artifacts and phase gates are followed for project execution.
  • Coach and mentor the project team on processes and tools.
  • Work with Project Accountants for Financial Management on the project.
  • Manage changes in project scope, objectives, requirements, and resources.
  • Collaborate with the solution team for change control processes when required.
  • Collaborate with other project managers for dependencies and manage them with minimal impact to delivery.
  • Manage and track interdependencies and interfaces with related projects.
  • Collaborate with the solution team to ensure adherence to release management practices.
  • Accountable for receiving Go-No-Go Signoff.
  • Hold delivery teams accountable for the development of architecture design documents, test plans, deployment, and hyper care plan.
  • Issue communication for changes in the project and manage close-out activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business or in a Computer Science, Business or Technical field.
  • 5+ years of experience as a scrum master.
  • 5+ years of project manager experience.
  • Experience with successful Agile techniques & tools (Jira).
  • Ability to work with and lead a team.
  • Ability to establish credibility and rapport with senior executives and technical and non-technical team members.
  • Financial Acumen and understanding of key financial indicators.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Problem-solving and conflict-resolution ability.
  • Key Skills: Agile Processes and procedures (including SAFe framework, metrics, and the implementation of Agile Release Train).

Nice-to-haves

  • Post graduate degree advanced training and/or certifications in relevant fields of study preferred.
  • SAFe/Agile certification preferred.
  • 3 or more years of experience in leading teams or advancing technical capability in teams.
  • Experience in transforming waterfall to Agile preferred.
  • Retail experience is a plus.
