About the position

The Agile Scrum Leader / Project Manager at Bloomberg is responsible for managing scrum ceremonies, coaching teams in agile practices, and ensuring adherence to Scrum principles. This role involves collaborating with Product Managers for backlog management and promoting continuous improvement within teams. The position plays a crucial role in managing team dynamics, resolving conflicts, and fostering a collaborative environment to drive successful project outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate fundamental knowledge and competency in Agile scrum practices to help teams develop an agile mindset
  • Facilitate the delivery of cross-functional product initiatives within their respective product scrum teams
  • Partner with Product Owners (POs) to ensure vision, roadmap and assisting with backlog management, product goals and facilitating stakeholder collaboration, product increment planning to deliver value & drive accountability
  • Assist teams in understanding the why behind the practices and Agile frameworks, to promote and increase agility
  • Facilitate meetings and discussions including scrum events, general scrum onboarding for new team members, effective user story writing, and feature planning
  • Perform ongoing assessments of the teams agile maturity, reflect, adapt and implement as needed
  • Coach our scrum and product teams on delivering value (business benefits, objectives, success measures)
  • Help teams continuously reflect and improve, becoming more effective in their roles and increasing their predictability, collaboration and quality practices, applying a user centric approach for delivering products and services
  • Govern the timely completion of quarterly accomplishments and confirm alignment against business goals & objectives
  • Lead quarterly planning sessions with POs and Scrum Teams, to support curation of roadmaps and quarterly planning
  • Embody a leadership style of serving others, promote team empowerment, and collaborative engagements
  • Demonstrate a continuous improvement mindset and ability to cultivate a learning culture within the organization
  • Manage sprints, impediments and dependencies within the scrum teams and represent teams' progress at scrum of scrums
  • Build a foundation for a culture that practices empathy, fosters accountability and empowers diverse points of view
  • Understand the impact of Agile Frameworks on Scrum Teams, Product, and the organization
  • Have an open-minded approach that welcomes feedback from peers, coaches, and team-members
  • Fostering relationships within the organization that are built on a foundation of trust to create psychological safety
  • Proactively navigate change activities in collaboration with the Program Manager and Change Manager

Requirements

  • 5+ years project management delivery experience, leading technical SDLC system implementations
  • Demonstrate 5+ years in applying Agile Scrum framework, leading scrum ceremonies to drive delivery
  • Ability to engage and influence teams to take ownership of sprint activities to drive accountability
  • Ability to network across teams to capture interdependencies, resolve impediments and actions
  • Experience in helping enhance scrum team agility / maturity and cultivate a continuous improvement mindset
  • Curiosity, good judgement and a desire to succeed in a fast paced, innovating and entrepreneurial environment
  • A leadership style of supporting others and encouraging collaborative environment and working with Product Leadership
  • Outstanding written and verbal communications skills and an ability to work independently, stay resilient and remain adaptable
  • Highly organized, good problem-solving skills, working knowledge of project management tools such as JIRA, Rally, or Azure
  • MS Office 365, skills to support the development of presentations and use data to drive decisions

Nice-to-haves

  • Agile Scrum Certification (CSM, A-CSM), or Project Management Certification (PMI)
  • Certified Continuous Improvement Manager (CCIM), Certified CCMI Professional, Six Sigma SSGI or equivalent
  • Knowledge and/or experience in operating within scaled Agile frameworks
  • Hands on experience where you led continuous improvements initiatives to drive and meet business outcomes
  • Demonstrate hands on experience with operational process improvement and/or project management experience working with software development or operational teams
