About the position

BCforward is currently seeking a highly motivated Agile Scrum Master / Kanban FlowMaster to join our team in Durham, NC. This position is crucial for facilitating Agile practices and ensuring that the team adheres to Agile values and principles. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational and analytical thinking skills, with a proven ability to translate complex business needs into user scenarios, flows, and diagrams. The Agile Scrum Master will work closely with stakeholders to prioritize backlog items, groom them effectively, and ensure a clear understanding of epics, stories, and tasks. In this role, you will be responsible for managing multiple priorities and projects simultaneously while maintaining a high quality of work. You will utilize tools such as JIRA to create and enhance dashboards, monitor the progress of sprints and workflows, and provide timely status updates. Your experience with work breakdown and estimation, sprint planning, and removing impediments will be essential in delivering solutions that meet business needs. Strong facilitation and communication skills are required to engage both technical and non-technical audiences effectively. The Agile Scrum Master will also be responsible for conducting risk and business impact analysis, gaining buy-in from stakeholders, and managing data to derive meaningful insights about the portfolio. You will need to demonstrate effective leadership, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills, as well as the ability to plan just enough and just in time to keep the team moving forward. A certification as a Scrum Master or Kanban certification is required, along with knowledge of DevOps practices and hands-on experience in software development and debugging using programming languages such as Java or .Net/C#. Additionally, experience with SQL in relational databases like Oracle or SQL Server is necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate Agile practices and ensure adherence to Agile values and principles.
  • Translate complex business needs into user scenarios, flows, and diagrams.
  • Work with stakeholders for backlog item prioritization and grooming.

Requirements

  • Strong organizational and analytical thinking skills.
  • Experience with Agile values, principles, and practices (Kanban, Scrum).
  • Hands-on experience with MS Project, MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
  • Experience with JIRA for monitoring progress and providing statuses.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
  • Experience with work breakdown, estimation, and sprint planning.
  • Strong facilitation and communication skills.
  • Experience in risk and business impact analysis.
  • Ability to gain stakeholder support and buy-in.
