About the position

Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT) is seeking an Agile Scrum Master to join our team in Arlington, VA or Mount Laurel, NJ. As a key player in our organization, the Agile Scrum Master will facilitate and coordinate Agile Scrum processes, ensuring that our teams work collaboratively and efficiently to deliver high-quality solutions for complex, mission-critical systems within the US Department of Defense (DoD). The successful candidate will work closely with the product development team to ensure that projects progress on schedule, within budget, and meet the desired quality standards. This role is not just about managing processes; it also involves coaching and mentoring team members to foster a culture of continuous improvement and accountability. In this position, you will guide and coach the team on Agile Scrum principles and practices, helping them to understand and implement these methodologies effectively. You will be responsible for prioritizing the product backlog in collaboration with the Product Developer, ensuring that the most critical tasks are addressed first. Your ability to facilitate Scrum ceremonies and lead discussions will be essential in driving the team towards achieving their objectives consistently. Additionally, you will be expected to maintain an active U.S. Security Clearance, which is a requirement for all applicants. The Agile Scrum Master will play a vital role in bridging communication between various stakeholders, including customers, senior program managers, and chief engineers. Your strong organizational skills and ability to manage complex project planning and execution tracking will be crucial in this role. You will also have the opportunity to mentor and grow talent within the team, contributing to the overall success of our projects and the professional development of your colleagues.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate and coordinate Agile Scrum processes within the company.
  • Guide and coach the team on Agile Scrum principles and practices.
  • Ensure the team works collaboratively and efficiently to deliver high-quality products.
  • Work with the Product Developer to prioritize the product backlog.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in software engineering, computer science, computer engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Scrum Master.
  • Experience operating within the construct of DOD programs.
  • Familiarity with DOD Systems and/or Software Engineering processes.
  • Ability to manage complex project planning and execution tracking.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience managing US Navy, US Air Force, and/or MDA contracts.
  • Experience with DOD Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) contracts or equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of DOD cybersecurity goals and techniques.
  • Strong organization and planning skills.
  • Ability to work closely with Customers, Senior/Principal Program Managers, and Chief Engineers.
  • Willingness to mentor and grow talent.
