About The Position

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) provides leadership on food and agriculture issues based on public policy, the best available science and effective management. The USDA's Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) links U.S. agriculture to the world, improves foreign market access for U.S. food and agricultural products, builds new markets, improves the competitive position of U.S. agriculture in the global marketplace, and provides food aid and technical assistance to foreign countries.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen or US National.
  • Males born after 12/31/1959 must be Selective Service registered or exempt.
  • Subject to satisfactory adjudication of background investigation and/or fingerprint check.
  • Successful completion of one year probationary period, unless previously served.
  • Direct Deposit: Per Public Law 104-134 all Federal employees are required to have federal payments made by direct deposit to their financial institution.
  • Successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
  • A degree in economics, that included at least 21 semester hours in economics and 3 semester hours in statistics, accounting, or calculus.
  • Current federal employees applying for a promotion opportunity must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirement of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled.
  • For the GS-14 level: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-13 level).

Responsibilities

  • Plans and directs the conduct of special economic data analyses and interpretations which cut across established organizational and functional lines of business.
  • Serves as coordinator and liaison between FAS/ GMA and the other USDA economic analysis agencies on day to day or ongoing analysis issues.
  • Analyzes the impact of existing and/or proposed legislation and policies on the activities of GMA.
  • Coordinates and implements briefings, meetings and analytical efforts requiring cross-division input.
  • Assists in efforts to coordinate among GMA Divisions review of proposals and drafting of economic analysis briefing papers and presentations.
