About the position

The Agricultural Environmental Specialist 1-3 position at the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry involves performing inspections and investigations related to agricultural laws and environmental impacts. The role requires a combination of fieldwork and administrative duties, focusing on ensuring compliance with regulations governing pesticides, horticulture, and other agricultural practices. Responsibilities

• Perform complex inspections and investigations related to agricultural and environmental sciences.
• Evaluate and compile data into comprehensive technical reports for regulatory compliance.
• Conduct field inspections on various crops and agricultural products to ensure quality standards are met.
• Investigate pesticide damage complaints and ensure compliance with pesticide laws and regulations.
• Train and mentor Agricultural Environmental Specialist 1 and 2 positions in regulatory programs and investigative techniques.
• Assist in administrative functions, including gathering reports and responding to inquiries from the public.

Requirements

• A baccalaureate degree with at least twenty-four semester hours in forestry, agricultural, biological, chemical, or environmental science, or an engineering field.
• Experience in inspecting or enforcing compliance with agricultural laws can substitute for specialized coursework.
• Experience in planning or implementing conservation practices can also substitute for specialized coursework.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in agricultural inspection or environmental science.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work independently.
• Knowledge of regulatory compliance and environmental impact assessments.
