About the position
The Agricultural Equipment Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining various farm machinery used in lettuce production. This role requires hands-on experience with advanced agricultural equipment and the ability to work as part of a team to ensure efficient farming operations.
Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain farm machinery utilized in lettuce production.
- Use GPS steering assisted tractors and electronic driven seeders with variable speed motors.
- Manage irrigation pumps with chlorine injection systems and for flood irrigation.
- Control spray tractors equipped with onboard computers for field and crop row identification.
- Calibrate and adjust custom-made farming equipment for optimal performance during harvesting.
- Assist in the installation and maintenance of crop protective netting and vertical frog prevention net.
- Operate large water pumps for flood irrigation and soil conservation.
Requirements
- Three months of agricultural equipment operating experience is required.
- Ability to understand and apply concepts of tractor speed, land area, pressure, and volume of liquids in spraying systems.
