About the position

This position involves seasonal agricultural work primarily focused on the maintenance and harvesting of crops, including apples and various vegetables. Workers will engage in tasks such as tree pruning, planting, tractor driving, and operating farm machinery. The role requires physical labor and the ability to work in varying weather conditions, with a commitment to safety and efficiency on the farm.

Responsibilities

• Prune trees and plant new trees during the summer season.
• Drive tractors and farm vehicles for various tasks.
• Perform orchard maintenance and barn/camp maintenance.
• Engage in storage work and assist in apple harvesting.
• Plant, weed, and harvest vegetables such as lettuce, peppers, onions, and potatoes.
• Wash and sort vegetables on the sorting line.
• Load and unload crops or containers of materials manually or using equipment like conveyors and forklifts.
• Mix specified materials or chemicals for planting or spraying.
• Spray fertilizer or pesticide solutions using hand sprayers.
• Observe machinery operation to detect malfunctions and adjust controls as needed.
• Operate and maintain agricultural production equipment, including tractors and irrigation systems.
• Adjust, repair, and service farm machinery, notifying supervisors of malfunctions.
• Attach farm implements to tractors using hand tools.
• Direct and monitor work crews engaged in planting, weeding, or harvesting activities.
• Operate towed machines for planting and fertilizing crops.
• Weigh crop-filled containers and record relevant information.
• Assist in transporting workers and supplies around the farm and to local facilities.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 months experience in agricultural tasks.
• Ability to lift up to 60 pounds.
• Willingness to work in extreme temperatures and perform frequent stooping and bending.
• Capability to perform repetitive movements and extensive pushing/pulling, sitting, and walking.
