About the position

As a Senior AI and ML Engineer at Booz Allen Hamilton, you will be an integral member of our elite Digital Battlespace Platform (DBP) team, dedicated to developing next-generation technologies for our defense clients. Your primary focus will be on leading materials and science engineering efforts, where you will process data and information utilizing advanced Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) technologies. You will apply cutting-edge principles, theories, and concepts to contribute to the development of innovative solutions for complex problems. This role requires a deep understanding of AI and ML methodologies, as well as the ability to provide highly innovative solutions to unusually complex challenges. In this position, you will be responsible for developing, training, testing, and integrating AI and ML models. You will work with custom tools such as Python, Shell Scripting, SQL, and various cloud storage tools. Your expertise will also extend to optimizing and compressing AI and ML models for small form factor edge compute devices, employing techniques such as quantization and pruning. You will create benchmark datasets and Python packages to facilitate data science objectives, and conduct research to implement the latest advancements in ML for analyzing and processing large-scale spatio-temporal data for edge processors. Additionally, you will develop and test AI and ML models specifically designed for low size, weight, and power (SWAP) requirements, targeting small form factor edge devices like Qualcomm Snapdragon, Nvidia Jetson Xavier and Orin, or Raspberry Pi. Your role will also involve deploying models using Docker or Docker Compose, and you will need to possess the ability to obtain a Secret clearance. A high school diploma or GED is required, but a Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or Data Science is preferred. You will be expected to work closely with clients to deploy ML systems within existing networks, utilizing virtual machines or containerization techniques. This position demands excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly in highly complex environments, and a background in defense is advantageous.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience developing, training, testing, and integrating AI and ML models.
• Experience with custom tools, including Python, Shell Scripting, SQL, or Cloud storage tools.
• Experience optimizing and compressing AI and ML models for small form factor edge compute devices.
• Experience creating benchmark datasets and Python packages to facilitate data science objectives.
• Experience conducting research and implementing the latest advancements in ML for large-scale data analysis.
• Experience developing and testing AI and ML models for low SWAP and small form factor edge devices.
• Experience deploying models in Docker or Docker Compose.
• Ability to obtain a Secret clearance.
• HS diploma or GED.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience using deep learning frameworks, including Keras, TensorFlow lite, or PyTorch mobile.
