About The Position

The AI Assurance Research Engineer will join the AI Systems Engineering team at RTX Corporation, focusing on developing safe and secure AI-enabled systems. This role involves conducting applied research in formal analysis, design, verification, and validation of intelligent aerospace systems, while also leading funding opportunities and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. The engineer will work on cutting-edge applied research problems in aerospace and defense, contributing to the development of state-of-the-art AI systems tools.

Requirements

• PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or a related field.
• Analytical, project management, problem-solving, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
• Experience in AI assurance, model-based design, logic, assurance cases, optimization, and system dynamics & control.
• Experience with formal analysis, verification tools and methodologies for cyber-physical systems including AI-enabled systems.
• Experience with AI technologies.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with numerical computational languages such as Matlab, Julia, Python, etc.
• Experience with low-level implementation languages such as C and C++.
• Experience with model-checking tools such as Z3 and NuSMV.
• Experience with ML Libraries such as scikit-learn and TensorFlow.
• Experience working with DOD and other government agencies.
• Experience with multi-objective optimization techniques, cyber-physical systems (CPS) design techniques, and contract-based design techniques.
• Experience with aerospace certification standards.

Responsibilities

• Conduct applied research in formal analysis, design, verification & validation (V&V), test & evaluation (T&E), assurance, and certification of intelligent and autonomous aerospace systems.
• Initiate, lead, and execute on funding opportunities in both internal and external R&D.
• Keep abreast of the latest developments in the field by continuous learning and champion new ideas and problem definitions.
• Work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment focused on innovation and partner with leading research institutions.
• Demonstrate exceptional communication skills and provide timely, accurate, and detailed reports, presentations, and technical papers.
