About the position

The AI Center Technical Manager will lead the operationalization of AI models within General Motors, focusing on deploying machine learning applications at scale. This role requires a hands-on technical lead with extensive experience in data science and machine learning, responsible for mentoring a team of ML engineers and collaborating with various teams to transition AI concepts into production-ready solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop frameworks and methodologies for AI model deployment and operations.
  • Collaborate with Data Scientists to transition ideas from PoCs to production-ready AI solutions.
  • Oversee the end-to-end deployment of ML, custom AI, and Generative AI models.
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of ML engineers, fostering a collaborative environment.
  • Utilize Azure for storage and Databricks for compute to ensure efficient data processing.
  • Implement and manage ML Flow for model tracking and deployment.
  • Establish DevSecOps pipelines with GitHub and Databricks Asset Bundles.
  • Write high-quality code for AI model development using Python.
  • Utilize code scanning tools like SonarQube for code quality assurance.
  • Create and manage end-to-end timing charts for AI model performance monitoring.
  • Design solutions with a focus on maintainability and scalability.
  • Stay updated on AI trends and evangelize MLOps methodology across the enterprise.
  • Collaborate with data engineers, software developers, and business stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in data science with a focus on deploying AI applications at scale.
  • Expert-level Python programming skills.
  • Extensive experience in building AI/ML models from concept to production.
  • Experience with Azure and Databricks for data processing and model training.
  • Deep understanding of ML Flow for managing ML operations.
  • Strong knowledge of CI/CD practices and tools, particularly GitHub.
  • Ability to create and manage end-to-end model monitoring pipelines.
  • Demonstrated obsession with operationalizing AI models for flawless execution.
  • Experience in managing code quality, ethics, and bias artifacts.
  • Proven experience in leading and mentoring a team of engineers.
