About the position

The Data Scientist position at Medtronic focuses on statistical and exploratory analysis of medical device data and patient contextual data to inform business decisions and operational changes. This role is integral to the Diabetes Operating Unit, which aims to improve the lives of individuals within the global diabetes community by delivering innovative solutions. The Data Scientist will collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify business opportunities and implement technology infrastructure, contributing to the mission of alleviating pain and restoring health.

Responsibilities

• Engage in statistical and exploratory analysis of large datasets using Python and SQL.
• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to identify business opportunities and product features.
• Work with data engineers to define technology infrastructure needs and implement CI/CD pipelines.
• Write and peer-review Python code with a focus on efficiency and scalability.
• Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders to gather needs and define requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Math, or a similar field.
• Experience with exploratory and statistical analysis of large datasets using Python (NumPy, Pandas, Scikit-learn, SciPy).
• Familiarity with structured (SQL) databases and querying best practices.
• Ability to write production-level code and work in a deadline-driven environment.
• Strong engineering, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Robust knowledge of Python, SQL, and other analytics languages.
• Proficiency with relational database technologies.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Advanced degree in computer science, mathematics, or related field.
