About the position

The AI Engineer position at Lockheed Martin is an entry-level, part-time role focused on leveraging artificial intelligence and machine learning to develop innovative solutions for complex problems. The role involves engaging in the entire system development lifecycle, from requirements generation to deployment, and requires a strong foundation in software engineering and AI technologies. The selected candidate will work within the AI Integration team, contributing to the Cognitive Baseline program and supporting the transition of AI prototypes to production.

Responsibilities

  • Support the AI Integration team and product portfolio focusing on the Cognitive Baseline program.
  • Engage in all phases of the system development lifecycle including requirements generation, system and software design, implementation, integration, and flight test.
  • Develop technologies and products that leverage Artificial Intelligence to provide discriminating capability to customers.
  • Utilize current AI paradigms including computer vision, deep learning, and reinforcement learning to solve complex problems.
  • Participate in the transition of AI prototypes to production.

Requirements

  • Experience using AI/ML frameworks (Pytorch, Tensorflow, etc.)
  • Experience with multiple libraries (NumPy, OpenCV, Scikit, Pandas, etc.)
  • Experience working with Agile methodologies
  • Experience with programming languages such as Python, Java, C++, or GO
  • Experience providing best practices and design principles in program technologies
  • Familiarity with transitioning AI prototypes to production
  • TS/SCI Security Clearance

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience leading other engineers or small teams
  • Experience with DevOps tools: Docker, Git, Continuous Integration, Continuous Deployment
  • Experience writing Dockerfiles, Helm and Kubernetes deployment scripts
  • Experience interfacing with databases (SQL, MongoDB, etc.)
  • Experience with high-performance computing
  • Experience managing Kubernetes container orchestration platforms
  • Familiarity with cloud platform management including AWS GovCloud and Microsoft Azure
  • Strong communication skills and active participation in team communication channels
