About the position

The AI Engineer II position is a long-term contract role within the Big Data Services department, focusing on leveraging Generative AI foundation models to address real-world challenges in the oil and gas midstream sector. The role involves collaboration with the Data Science and Data Engineering teams to design, implement, and optimize AI applications, ensuring responsible usage and performance efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement applications using LLMs and foundation models (e.g., GPT-4, Claude, DALL-E)
• Develop sophisticated prompting strategies and chain-of-thought reasoning systems
• Create APIs and interfaces to connect AI models with existing applications
• Build RAG (Retrieval Augmented Generation) systems for domain-specific applications
• Ensure responsible AI usage, including safety measures and ethical considerations
• Optimize model performance and costs through efficient prompt design and caching strategies

Requirements

• Experience with AI platforms and APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.)
• Strong programming skills, especially in Python
• Familiarity with AI frameworks (LangChain, LlamaIndex)
• Understanding of vector databases and embedding technologies
• Knowledge of RAG architectures and prompt engineering
• Experience with web development and API integration
• Understanding of AI safety and ethical considerations
• Ability to adapt in a rapidly changing environment
• Ability to communicate insights and approaches in a simple, actionable manner
• Ability to work independently and with team members from different backgrounds
• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
