About the position

The AI Engineer - Sr. Manager Level (IC) at Capital One is responsible for leading the design, development, and deployment of AI-powered products. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance customer interactions through AI technologies, focusing on large language model techniques and improving AI system performance. The position contributes to the overall technical vision for AI solutions within the company.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and deployment of AI-powered products.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance customer interactions using AI technologies.
• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support AI software components including foundation model training and large language model inference.
• Leverage a broad stack of Open Source and SaaS AI technologies such as AWS Ultraclusters and PyTorch.
• Invent and introduce state-of-the-art LLM optimization techniques to improve performance of large scale production AI systems.
• Contribute to the technical vision and long-term roadmap of foundational AI systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree plus at least 6 years of experience developing AI and ML algorithms or technologies, or Master's degree plus at least 4 years of experience developing AI and ML algorithms or technologies.
• 7 years of experience deploying scalable and responsible AI solutions on cloud platforms.
• Experience designing, developing, integrating, delivering, and supporting complex AI systems.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor an engineering team and influence cross-functional stakeholders.
• Experience developing AI and ML algorithms or technologies using Python, C++, C#, Java, or Golang.

Nice-to-haves

• Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or relevant technical field.
• Experience developing and applying state-of-the-art techniques for optimizing training and inference software.
• Passion for staying abreast of the latest AI research and AI systems.
