About the position

Lockheed Martin Space is seeking a full-time AI/ML Hardware Engineer to work on a cross-functional team that includes research engineers, data scientists, software developers, physicists, and mathematicians. The role focuses on utilizing cutting-edge AI/ML resources and techniques to address complex challenges in the space sector, particularly in support of national security. The engineer will serve as the hardware expert for autonomous systems, collaborating with systems engineers to develop next-generation hardware solutions, integrating hardware with software, and preparing systems for certification and deployment.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the hardware expert for autonomous systems.
• Collaborate with systems engineers to develop next-generation hardware solutions.
• Integrate hardware with software and systems.
• Conduct human-machine interface tests.
• Prepare autonomous systems for certification and deployment.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline (e.g. Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Physics).
• Advanced experience in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Computer Vision, or Image Processing hardware.
• Experience developing on modern hardware systems using GPUs, FPGAs, etc.
• Active TS/SCI security clearance required.

Nice-to-haves

• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C/C++, or MATLAB.
• Experience with RF, SAR or EO image processing algorithms/techniques.
• Experience with embedded systems and/or firmware development.
• Experience with sensing and perception hardware systems and embedded system design.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work in a collaborative and team-based environment.
