About the position

The AI CoE Software Developer Intern will support the newly formed CAO Artificial Intelligence Center of Excellence (AI CoE) by assisting in the development and management of AI-related projects within the House of Representatives. This role focuses on full-stack development of specialized AI use-cases, leveraging cloud-based AI services to enhance operational efficiencies. The intern will work closely with CAO and House staff to explore the feasibility of implementing large language models (LLMs) in various workflows.

Responsibilities

• Lead full-stack development of AI use-cases within the House of Representatives.
• Work with CAO staff and House staff to test the feasibility of using LLMs.
• Assist the CoE Director in managing governance and experimentation related to AI projects.
• Support staff education and upskilling initiatives in AI.
• Communicate with key stakeholders regarding AI projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field, with a focus in Artificial Intelligence preferred.
• Established interest and expertise in AI custom cloud development.
• Experience building web applications using modern frameworks.
• Experience with user-facing interfaces and backend web applications.
• Knowledge of database integration and cloud data storage.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or MATLAB.
• Experience with cloud-based data science tools like AWS Bedrock, Glue, SageMaker, QuickSight, and Azure OpenAI Studio.
