About the position

The AI Software Developer position is a contract role focused on supporting the Los Angeles Superior Court in integrating generative AI and AI-driven document processing technologies into their existing systems. The role involves designing and implementing AI models, particularly within C# applications, and requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to enhance case management systems. The position is remote with occasional travel to court locations and offers a competitive hourly rate.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement AI models integrated within C# applications for the Superior Court of California, County of Los Angeles.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate AI solutions into Odyssey and eCourt case management systems.
  • Conduct thorough testing and validation of AI technologies to ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to other team members.
  • Continuously stay updated on the latest AI technologies that can benefit the court system.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in AI development, specifically with a strong background in generative AI models and natural language processing.
  • Proficient in C#, with experience integrating AI technologies into existing C# applications.
  • Experience with AI frameworks and libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Azure OpenAI) suitable for C# environments.
  • Demonstrable experience in developing and deploying AI solutions for document analysis and processing.
  • Familiarity with cloud services (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) used for deploying AI solutions.
  • Solid understanding of data structures, data modeling, and software architecture.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Expertise in designing and implementing pluggable architecture using reflection, dependency injection frameworks, or modular frameworks (e.g., MEF, Autofac) for scalable and extensible software solutions.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with local Large Language Models and implementation in legal document analysis.
  • Knowledge of Odyssey and eCourt case management systems.
  • Experience in the legal sector, particularly with legal documents or legal environments.
  • Knowledge of ethical AI use and considerations specific to public service and legal applications.
  • Previous experience working on government contracts or projects.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and innovative thinking.
  • Excellent communication skills to explain complex AI concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
