About the position

The Data Architect will be responsible for developing and maintaining the overall data architecture strategy for a network of medical practices. This role involves compiling, organizing, and managing data from various systems, ensuring compliance with healthcare data standards, and creating insightful reports using tools like Power BI. The Data Architect will support data-driven decision-making processes and collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance data integration and reporting capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain the overall data architecture strategy for the enterprise using scalable high-performance models.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare data standards like HL7, FHIR, and DICOM.
  • Extract, compile, and clean data from diverse sources, including electronic health records and operational systems.
  • Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and completeness through validation and auditing processes.
  • Integrate data from multiple sources via collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Utilize tools like Power BI to design and create visually appealing and interactive reports and dashboards.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand reporting requirements and translate them into actionable visualizations.
  • Evaluate and recommend new data strategies and technologies including cloud storage, AI, and machine learning applications in healthcare.
  • Implement and maintain databases, ensuring optimal performance, security, and scalability.
  • Monitor data flow between systems, ensuring the integrity and accuracy of patient and operational data.
  • Develop protocols for secure data access and permissions, ensuring compliance with HIPAA and other healthcare regulations.
  • Define and implement data governance policies to ensure data quality, security, and compliance.
  • Establish protocols for data sharing, access control, and data lifecycle management.
  • Ensure the security of sensitive medical data through encryption and access control measures.
  • Present findings and insights to the executive team in a clear and compelling manner.
  • Communicate complex data concepts to non-technical stakeholders, facilitating informed decision-making.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including IT, operations, and clinical staff, to understand data needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science).
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a data manager or architect role, preferably in the healthcare industry.
  • Proficiency in data visualization tools, with a strong emphasis on Power BI or other business intelligence apps.
  • Advanced skills in statistical techniques and data modeling.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work with complex datasets.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Familiarity with healthcare data standards and regulations is a plus.
  • Absolute understanding of data security relative to HIPAA, GDPR, and other relevant legislation.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certification in Healthcare IT or Data Management.
