About the position

The Core Infrastructure Engineering Manager will lead a team of cloud infrastructure engineers responsible for building and maintaining the backbone of Apple's machine learning-powered search systems. This role involves strategic direction and day-to-day operations, focusing on designing and optimizing cloud infrastructure to support Apple's vision of intelligent search across its ecosystem of products. The manager will foster a collaborative environment while ensuring alignment with technical and business goals.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of cloud infrastructure engineers in building scalable and sustainable cloud-based infrastructures.
• Oversee the strategic direction and daily operations of the team.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including domain engineers, backend infra engineers, SRE engineers, and product leaders.
• Design and optimize cloud infrastructure to handle large data volumes and traffic.
• Ensure reliability and scalability of infrastructure solutions.

Requirements

• Leadership experience in cloud infrastructure engineering or a related field.
• Experience managing and growing engineering teams, providing mentorship and technical guidance.
• Strong background in computer science and cloud technologies (AWS, GCP, Apple Clouds, Kubernetes, etc.).
• Strong background in distributed systems and Linux.
• Strong hands-on technical skills to address architectural challenges.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams.
• Ability to balance long-term strategic thinking with short-term project execution.
