About the position

The Machine Learning Engineer position at Apple focuses on developing and maintaining robust, scalable data and machine learning pipelines for the Knowledge team. This role involves working with large datasets in a high-performance computing environment to enhance Apple's algorithmic search and AI capabilities, ultimately improving customer experiences. The engineer will collaborate with various teams to integrate diverse data sources and ensure the quality of the knowledge delivered to customer-facing services.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement robust, scalable data/ML pipelines capable of processing large datasets.
  • Integrate new knowledge from diverse data sources into the existing knowledge base.
  • Collaborate with engineers across Apple to deliver knowledge for customer-facing services.
  • Develop tools and tests to ensure quality and diagnose issues in the ML pipelines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
  • Background in computer science, including algorithms, data structures, and distributed systems.
  • Experience working in a cloud-native environment such as AWS.
  • Experience with large-scale data processing pipelines (e.g., Spark, Cassandra).
  • Experience with micro-service architecture in a containerized environment (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines for building, testing, and deploying code (e.g., Jenkins, Spinnaker).

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with observability tools for monitoring applications (e.g., Prometheus, DataDog).
  • Experience with Scala and Go is a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, able to work independently as well as in a team.
