About the position

As a Machine Learning Engineer in the Machine Intelligence Neural Design (MIND) team at Apple, you will be part of an innovative organization focused on machine learning and AI. This role emphasizes the development and shipping of ML-based features and products, with a strong focus on the entire end-to-end ML production pipeline, including dataset creation, model training, and on-device inference optimizations. The ideal candidate is encouraged to experiment and iterate on ideas to achieve high-quality implementations.

Responsibilities

• Develop features and models to enhance machine learning capabilities.
• Scale up model training and build data pipelines to improve system performance.
• Review and implement advanced machine learning algorithms.
• Build software to enhance the rate of experimentation.

Requirements

• Proficient in Python and deep learning frameworks like PyTorch.
• Experience with training ML models, including deep learning models.
• Ability to define metrics, evaluate ML models, and perform error analysis.
• Familiarity with recent advances in deep learning.
• Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with modeling vision problems such as object detection and facial recognition.
• Experience with building efficient ML models through hardware/software co-design.
• Experience in crafting and defining datasets and metrics for novel tasks.
• Experience with shipping ML features and products.
