About the position

The position is for a Tech Lead in Apple's Data and ML Innovation team, focusing on the development of responsible machine learning technologies and ensuring the safety and fairness of Generative AI applications. The role involves collaboration with various teams to create groundbreaking solutions that enhance user experiences while adhering to Apple's values and privacy standards.

Responsibilities

• Define and deliver responsible machine learning technologies.
• Research and advance red teaming methods for generative AI models.
• Research and develop mitigations and safeguards for safe deployment of LLMs in Apple products.
• Develop methods and frameworks to evaluate products.
• Contribute to the architecture and high-level structure of Apple's AI-powered platform and features.
• Collaborate with software engineers, machine learning engineers, and researchers on challenging problems.
• Drive requirement definition and ensure technical quality of deliverables.

Requirements

• Strong research or product deployment record in responsible AI with publications in top ML and HCI venues.
• Strong research fundamentals and development methodologies around LLMs, foundation models, and diffusion models.
• Deep experience in human-centered research and understanding of design fundamentals in Human-Centered AI and Responsible AI.
• Experience working with highly-sensitive content.

Nice-to-haves

• BS, MS or PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or related fields.
• Strong organizational and operational skills working with large, multi-functional teams.
