About the position

The AIML Information Intelligence team at Apple is focused on developing advanced technologies in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and natural language processing. This role involves working on large-scale machine learning and deep learning projects to enhance query understanding and ranking for search functionalities across various Apple products, including Siri and Safari. The position requires collaboration with researchers and data scientists to create and refine domain-specific Large Language Models and to transition innovative generative AI research into production-ready technologies.

Responsibilities

• Analyzing search ranking and relevance requirements, issues, and opportunities
• Developing, fine-tuning, and evaluating domain-specific Large Language Models for various tasks and applications in Apple's AI-powered products
• Conducting applied research to transfer pioneering research in generative AI to production-ready technologies
• Understanding product requirements and translating them into modeling and engineering tasks
• Building machine-learned models for search relevance, ranking, and query understanding problems
• Integrating search functions into Apple products such as Siri, Spotlight, Safari, Messages, and Lookup
• Building end-to-end production systems including query understanding and ranking to power search
• Applying Spark, Hadoop MapReduce, Hive, and Impala for distributed data processing

Requirements

• Excellent applied machine learning experience
• Strong background in natural language processing (NLP)
• Solid engineering skills in creating search and NLP services
• Experience with large-scale machine learning and deep learning
• Ability to analyze search ranking and relevance requirements
• Proficiency in building machine-learned models for search relevance and ranking

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with generative AI technologies
