About the position

The AIML - Sr Data Scientist role focuses on driving product impact through measurement and evaluation of Apple’s user-facing products, such as Siri and Search. The position involves collaborating with engineering teams to enhance search quality and guide feature development using data insights. The role requires a strong analytical background to handle large datasets and develop innovative evaluation methods that inform product evolution and improve user experiences across various Apple devices.

Responsibilities

• Research and develop evaluation methods to improve the quality of Apple user-facing products.
• Collaborate with evaluation and experimentation engineering teams to implement methodological developments into technologies used by product engineering.
• Analyze large, complex datasets to solve difficult, non-routine analysis problems using advanced analytical methods.
• Conduct data collection, quality control, requirements specification, processing, and presentations.
• Build and prototype analysis pipelines iteratively to provide insights at scale.
• Develop comprehensive knowledge of product data structures and metrics, advocating for necessary changes in product development.
• Partner closely with product engineering teams on core machine learning algorithms and user experience evaluations.

Requirements

• Proficiency in data science, machine learning, and evaluation.
• Experience in crafting, conducting, analyzing, and interpreting experiments and investigations.
• Proven ability to independently lead large-scale, open-ended analytical projects.
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Excellent communication skills for articulating business questions into actionable insights using statistical techniques.
• Strong programming skills in Python for data processing, with expertise in SQL or Spark.
• Proficient in data wrangling and building scalable solutions in collaboration with engineering teams.
