About the position

The AIML Data organization at Apple is focused on enhancing products through data-driven insights. The Search Analytics team plays a crucial role in this mission by measuring and evaluating user experiences to inform product evolution. This position involves collaborating with engineering teams to improve search quality and guide feature development, ultimately delivering exceptional search experiences across various Apple devices and languages.

Responsibilities

  • Research and develop evaluation methods to enhance the quality of Apple user-facing products like Siri and Search.
  • Collaborate with evaluation and experimentation engineering teams to implement methodological developments into technologies used by product engineering.
  • Analyze large, complex data sets and solve challenging, non-routine analysis problems using advanced analytical methods.
  • Conduct comprehensive analysis including data collection, quality control, requirements specification, processing, and presentation.
  • Build and prototype analysis pipelines iteratively to provide insights at scale.
  • Develop a deep understanding of product data structures and metrics, advocating for necessary changes to support product development.
  • Partner closely with product engineering teams on core machine learning algorithms and user experience evaluations.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in data science, machine learning, and analytics, including statistical data analysis and A/B testing.
  • Experience in crafting, conducting, analyzing, and interpreting experiments and investigations.
  • Ability to articulate and translate business questions into statistical techniques for data analysis.
  • Capable of managing projects of varying sizes and scopes, knowing when to dive deep into details.
  • Strong communication skills to explain complex technical topics to diverse audiences.
  • Strong programming skills, including data-querying skills (SQL and/or Spark) and experience with a scripting language (e.g., Python, R, or Scala).
  • 5 years of relevant work experience.
