About the position

As a Senior Engineering Program Manager in the AIML organization at Apple, you will play a pivotal role in driving the development and delivery of innovative machine learning technologies that enhance customer experiences. This position requires a strong leader who can manage complex, cross-functional projects that impact over a billion customers worldwide. You will be responsible for building and maintaining project timelines, identifying dependencies, and managing risks to ensure successful project execution. Your ability to communicate effectively across various teams will be crucial in aligning goals and expectations, fostering collaboration, and driving quality improvements in Apple’s software products. In this role, you will partner with cross-functional engineering teams to define requirements that prioritize privacy in data collection and evaluation. You will work closely with instrumentation, data science, and data engineering teams to develop robust data collection and evaluation solutions. Your leadership will guide dynamic teams in optimizing measurement and evaluation efforts, ensuring that all data collection practices are safe and compliant with legal standards. Additionally, you will collaborate with research teams to create long-term evaluation strategies that support the ongoing development of Apple’s machine learning capabilities. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing large-scale programs and delivering significant client/server software products. You will need to demonstrate strong analytical skills and a curiosity to explore opportunities for enhancing user experiences. Your ability to work across multiple teams and enforce efficient processes in a data-driven environment will be essential for success in this role. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including negotiation and presentation abilities, are also critical as you will be influencing stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

• Build and run project timelines with clear dependencies and critical paths.
• Handle risks and mitigations, and re-plan as necessary based on events.
• Drive alignment across the organization and between teams.
• Partner with cross-functional engineering teams to define requirements for data collection and evaluation.
• Work with instrumentation, data science, and data engineering teams to develop data collection solutions.
• Optimize and lead measurement and evaluation efforts with dynamic cross-functional teams.
• Collaborate with engineering, privacy, and legal teams to ensure safe data collection practices.
• Develop long-term evaluation solutions in partnership with research teams.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in driving large scale programs building machine learning powered products.
• Excellent program management skills including structuring programs and managing multiple interdependent work streams.
• Experience orchestrating the delivery of significant client/server software products requiring large organizations (100+).
• Strong analytical skills with a curiosity to discover opportunities for impact and better user experience.
• Capability to work across a large number of teams to enforce process and achieve efficient outcomes in a data-driven environment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including negotiation, presentation, and influence.
• BS/MS degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent.
