About the position

The Senior Engineering Program Manager for ML Compute Infrastructure at Apple will lead the development and management of the Machine Learning Compute Platform, which supports internal developers in efficiently scaling compute resources for machine learning applications. This role involves establishing partnerships across various teams and external cloud providers to enhance the ML lifecycle from experimentation to deployment, ensuring high performance and cost-effective solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Establish cross-functional partnerships with all of Apple's ML partners to understand their use cases and improve the ease of use of compute services.
  • Collaborate with Apple's AIML engineering teams to define a partnership strategy across the entire ML ecosystem, including public cloud, internal cloud, silicon vendors, and OSS providers.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to customers, understanding their needs and delivering low-cost, high-performance solutions.
  • Translate product requirements into technical use cases to enable risk mitigation for engineering execution.
  • Define new computing modalities using resources native to the cloud and take that vision to market.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of Product and/or technical program management experience in distributed computing, large scale cloud infrastructure, GPU/TPU usage for ML training, software and computing architectures, container stack, and networking.
  • Experience with large scale GPU-based AI applications, such as Natural Language Processing and Recommendation, for training and inference.
  • Proficiency in multitasking and leading sophisticated programs with cross-functional teams, with a track record of developing and bringing platforms to market.
  • Self-motivated, independent, and proactive with creative and critical thinking capabilities.

Nice-to-haves

  • 5+ years of work experience in Product/Program and/or solutions architecture or developer roles.
  • MS/PhD in EE, CS, Math, or Physics or equivalent work experience.
  • Proven track record of driving improvements in team quality, performance, agility, or effectiveness.
  • Ability to define product vision, strategy, and roadmap along with execution capabilities.
  • Experience driving technical partnerships with internal and external cloud and software partners.
  • Familiarity with AI frameworks (e.g., Tensorflow, Pytorch, or MxNet) and/or GPU development experience.
