About the position

The Engineering Program Manager (EPM) at Apple is responsible for enhancing engineering productivity and efficiency by driving cross-functional programs and initiatives. This role involves collaborating with engineering leaders to develop roadmaps, manage risks, and ensure alignment across teams to deliver high-quality solutions that meet both internal and external needs.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with multiple Engineering leads to drive cross functional programs through delivery, including timelines, planning, requirements, and dependencies.
  • Develop and publish both short-term and long-term roadmaps for internal product offerings based on Apple needs and external product release needs.
  • Manage risks, mitigations, and drive alignment across the organization and between teams.
  • Provide clear, timely and objective communication, including regular program status updates and critical issues as needed to the executive team.
  • Coordinate discussions and break down complex issues into discussion topics to drive engineering and design alignment with support from the project team, maintaining an orientation toward teamwork and collaboration.
  • Proactively identify issues and solutions, and mobilize resources necessary to attack and resolve. Coordinate with teams to identify issues, prioritize tasks and track risks to schedule and product quality, including cross-functional dependencies.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in Program / Project management successfully leading highly cross-functional software development.
  • Thorough understanding of engineering health metrics (e.g. reliability, performance, quality) with experience influencing/leading engineering to improve them.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to filter and distill relevant information for the right audience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Thorough understanding of modern Developer Tools, CI/CD, Pipeline Integration, and/or Cloud Infrastructure.
  • Deep understanding of software development for Machine Learning products and services, and how analytics & evaluation data can help improve those products.
  • Ability to communicate abstract ideas clearly and independently manage complex project objectives.
