About the position

The Sr. Machine Learning Engineer role within the Siri and Information Intelligence team at Apple focuses on enhancing the intelligence of Siri and other Apple products. This position involves leveraging advanced machine learning techniques to improve user interaction with devices, including query understanding, response ranking, and information retrieval. The team is responsible for training and deploying machine learning models at scale, contributing to a production service that impacts millions of users.

Responsibilities

• Leverage and improve deep learning techniques to understand user queries and intents.
• Rank documents and generate answers to user questions.
• Train and deploy machine learning models at scale for various Apple products.
• Collaborate with a diverse team of applied machine learning engineers and distributed systems engineers.
• Translate product requirements into modeling and engineering tasks.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 5+ years of industry experience in collaborative environments.
• Experience with PyTorch, TensorFlow, and JAX for deep learning model training and deployment.
• Ability to understand product requirements and translate them into modeling tasks.
• Experience in building machine-learned models for search relevance ranking, query understanding, and summarization.

Nice-to-haves

• Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Information Retrieval, Data Science, or related field.
• Experience in Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), Large Language Model (LLM) reasoning, and LLM agents.
